We Won!

Do you remember this picture?:

Our hospital was hosting a photo contest, so we decided to enter in the photo above (no studio pictures were allowed). You had to submit a photo and type up whatever your story behind it was.

We were excited about the prizes. First place would receive a 500,000won (just think $500) credit to use at the hospital--nice! As awesome as that is, we were simply hoping for second place--a Braun ear thermometer. They are ridiculously expensive here, and with the flu going around, the prices have soared even higher. It's hard to find them under 120,000won anymore.

Imagine our excitement when my husband received a call from the hospital today informing us that we had won second place! It was just like winning first since we had really wanted to win the thermometer. We felt like we had a fighting chance, but at the same time, I thought that my picture was almost a little too typical since it is a popular photo to take in the states. Between our photo and what he wrote up, though, it did the trick!

If you would like to view our entry on the website, you can view it here. It's in Korean, of course, but I figured I would share it anyway. ^^

We are very truly blessed!

Congratulations! It is a great photograph and definitely represents your family. 500,000 won is much better! Ear thermometers are notoriously inaccurate. They can be off by a few degrees. I just used a regular digital under the arm. If your child is really sick, doctors will want a rectal temp. So if you get two cheap digital thermometers one for arm/mouth and the other for rectal you will be covered.
